I was talking with a few friends last week over a couple of cold ones and the topic turned to fashion, as it usually does.
I innocently asked why do we all try to keep up with the latest trends and was told in no uncertain terms that it was our duty as red blooded women to do so.
Aguing my case against this I told the story of a lovely little jacket I bought only last year that was now considered out of date.
One of my friends knew the one and started going on about how it would only need a little work and it would look great again.
So I asked how much it would cost and where could I get it done.
She explained that I should be quite capable of doing it myself for a few dollars.
All you need is a sewing needle, thread, a patch or two, and the willingness to get stuck in.
She relented to do it for me when asked nicely. How long is that going to take, I asked her.
About ten minutes came the reply. And how can you do it that quick? Because I’ve got a sewing machine she replied smugly. It’s got a computer in it too.
Gobsmacked, I enquired further, it’s a Brother CS6000i, she said. Infact it’s a Brother CS6000i Computerized Sewing Machine.
After another hours talking about this machine she convinced me to visit and do the work myself on her sewing machine.
This should be an eye opener and if I survive the first minute I figure I should be alright.
It’s going to take a lot longer to update the fashion on my jacket but the fun I get should be worth it.
I’ll let you all know in a week or two how it all went.
